Finding out where a product is made might need some investigating. That’s the case for pool cues too. Not many things are made in the USA now because it’s usually cheaper to make them in other countries. But if you’re a pool player who wants a good cue made in America, you’re in luck. Some companies still make their cues right here. If you want to support a business from the USA or you’re just curious, keep reading to learn about pool cues made in the USA.

Remember, some of these brands have different types of cues. Not all of them are made in America. Some might be designed in America, but they’re actually made in another place to save money. If a seller is honest, they will proudly tell you if the cues are made in America. So, it’s not difficult to figure out.

Here’s a list of all the brands we’ll go over:

Schmelke Pool Cues

Schmelke is an American company that makes cues for playing pool. They’ve been around for a long time and are known for keeping their cue prices low. But even though the prices are low, the cues are still really good. They use good materials to make them.

The company is based in Wisconsin and owned by a family. They have been making cues for more than 50 years. One of their popular cue sets is called Sneaky Pete, but they also make many other high-quality cues.

When they make the cues, they are very careful. They check to make sure the cues are straight at least 5 times. This makes sure that every cue is good to use. They also put a special finish on the cues. This finish keeps them smooth, strong, and straight even after a long time of using them.

Viking Pool Cues

Viking, a company from Wisconsin, makes cues for playing pool. They started in the 1960s in a basement in Stoughton, WI. The person who started the company, Gordon Hart, went to tournaments and pool halls to sell the cues.

The company did well until the economy went down after the 2008 economic crash. In 2010, Viking had to close. But later, they reopened and hired back the people who were good at making cues. Now, Viking is famous for making pool cues.

Viking still makes cues by hand. They let each cue part sit for two years before using it. They check each part three times while making it. They put the pieces together carefully to make sure the cue is straight.

Viking makes their cues look great and strong. They use a special tip and part called a ferrule that won’t break while you use the cue. The cues are shiny and nice.

Joss Pool Cues

Joss cues are famous for their good quality and stylish design. The company started in Towson, Maryland, in 1968. Dan and Debbie, who started the company, still run it with their son Stephen’s help.

If you’ve watched the movie The Color of Money, you’ve actually seen Joss cues. Even the cues with different names in the movie are still Joss cues. The movie not only got people interested in playing pool again, but it also made Joss Cues well-known in the billiards world.

Looking at the awards the company received shows that they make really good cues here in America. Dan was put into the American Cue Makers Association Hall of Fame in 2003. Then, not even ten years later, he got into the International Cuemakers Association Hall of Fame. Stephen got an award for being a great cue maker in 2017.

Lots of famous pool players have used Joss cues because they’re so good. Some of these players are Jim Rempe, Minnesota Fats, Mike Sigel, and Eddie Taylor. And the best part is, every cue they make comes with a warranty that lasts a long time.

McDermott Pool Cues

There’s a company called McDermott in Wisconsin that started in 1975. They own a bunch of pool cue brands. But not all of them are made in the USA. The first McDermott cues are still made in the USA today.

Making each McDermott cue involves 150 steps to make it really good. They use special wood called North American Hard Rock Maple for the long part, and they turn each cue 11 times to make sure it’s strong and straight. They also use really nice and rare woods for the other parts of the cue.

People like McDermott cues because you can make them how you want, with cool designs and special wood pieces. They’re also known for being made really well. Each cue also comes with a forever promise that they won’t get bent out of shape and that they’re made right.

Jacoby Pool Cues

Jacoby is a company from Wisconsin. It was started by Dave Jacoby in 1982. At first, they fixed pool cues. Later, Dave and his son Shane began making their own cues. When Shane left, Dave’s other son Brandon took over.

Lots of Jacoby cues have a strong joint called a radial pin. They use really good materials to make their cues. They even make hybrid cues, which are a mix of different kinds. People really like their regular cues too. The Jacoby family has been part of the American Cuemakers Association since the 1990s. This shows how good their cues are.

Jacoby cues cost quite a bit, but they’ve won many awards for how well they’re made. In short, getting a Jacoby cue is a good choice.
